"Some poor souls go a lifetime without ever figuring out what they want to do with their lives. Bill Moore, on the other hand, is barely out of his teens and already has an artistic path figured out involving music, filmmaking and folklore, and that’s just to start."
-David Menconi Bill Moore is a Chapel Hill-based guitarist, folk musician and singer-songwriter. He writes and performs a diverse array of music deeply rooted in the traditions of his home state of North Carolina. With influences ranging from Bob Dylan to Bob Wills and from Charley Patton to Charlie Poole, Bill covers a wide range of styles including Piedmont blues, old-time, ragtime, swing, vaudeville blues and rockabilly. His original work blends these old styles in new ways and realizes them within the Carolina fingerstyle guitar tradition of artists like Reverend Gary Davis and Elizabeth Cotten. Bill is currently pursuing undergraduate degrees in music and American studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

New Piedmont Style
Bill’s debut release, New Piedmont Style, is an album of all-original songs based in North Carolina’s longstanding Piedmont blues tradition, rendered solo on 6 and 12 string guitar. The works on this album run from straight Piedmont blues to more creative syntheses of early 20th century genres. These songs were written over a period of years but recorded in a few hours underneath an HVAC repair shop with help from the Music Maker Foundation. The final product was mastered at the Rubber Room and featured photographs by Calli Westra. New Piedmont Style is available on all streaming platforms and may be purchased on Bandcamp in both digital and physical forms.
